Job Summary:
The Library of Congress is seeking a Senior Innovation Specialist to join its Digital Innovation Division. This role involves collaborating with local communities across the country to create digital experiences using emerging technologies, digital collections, and community-focused themes. The position works with a team to design and implement digital interactive experiences that will be displayed in various physical locations around the nation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborative Work: Work with Library staff and community partners to co-design, develop, and launch digital interactive experiences using emerging technologies.
- Technology and Innovation: Expand the use of current digital technologies, identify new methods and technologies for digital collections, and contribute to digital humanities and scholarship.
- User Engagement: Build relationships with various communities and stakeholders. Gather input through workshops, surveys, and user testing to ensure the digital experiences meet their needs.
- Project Planning and Execution: Plan and manage national digital projects. Develop proposals, select the right technologies, and collaborate with both internal and external partners to bring projects to life.
- Resource Development: Identify ways to inspire Library patrons to use its digital resources for personal and educational growth. Ensure the Library’s digital collections are preserved and remain accessible.
- Innovation and Evaluation: Research and recommend new digital tools and experiences for users. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in digital humanities, librarianship, museum studies, and technology.
- Strategic Recommendations: Advise senior management on strategies related to digital preservation, access, and technologies such as APIs and data-sharing platforms. Evaluate and suggest improvements to digital experiences and tools.
- Conferences and Events: Organize conferences, meetings, and events for the Library, including both internal and external gatherings. Prepare research, background materials, and presentations.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience with Digital Technologies: Knowledge of current and emerging technologies used in libraries, museums, digital humanities, and digital scholarship.
- Relationship Building: Ability to communicate and build relationships with various stakeholders, including users, partners, and colleagues.
- Project Management: Experience planning, developing, and launching large-scale digital projects.
- Documentation and Communication Skills: Ability to write clear technical documentation and communicate complex ideas effectively.
