Job Description
The job is to help classify goods according to customs rules and regulations. You will deal with duties, restrictions, and import/export rules. You will also handle administrative and clerical tasks, working directly or indirectly with customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classify merchandise based on customs regulations and duty rates.
- Complete forms related to customs based on the type of product.
- Communicate with customers about customs-related questions or issues.
- Prepare various reports for operations.
- Keep records and files organized and check them regularly.
- Provide administrative support to the Manager.
- Help move packages within a bonded area if necessary.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in a clerical or customer service role is required.
- At least 18 months of experience in customs clearance broker activities.
- Knowledge of import and export duties is needed.
- Basic office skills like typing, filing, and using a computer.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Able to lift 75 lbs and move packages up to 150 lbs with the right equipment.
- Clean, neat appearance.
- Fluent in English is preferred.
