WordPress Developer

About the role

Koda North is hiring WordPress Developers to build, customize, maintain, and improve professional websites, content platforms, and web solutions for real business needs.

This role is focused on hands-on WordPress development, including custom themes, plugins, website improvements, integrations, performance optimization, and ongoing maintenance. You will work with existing websites and new projects, transforming designs and requirements into reliable, high-quality web experiences.

Important: This position is open only to candidates currently located in Europe or eligible European locations. Applications from candidates outside Europe will not be considered.

The ideal candidate has practical WordPress development experience, strong attention to detail, good English communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a remote engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites
• Build custom WordPress themes, templates, and website components
• Customize and extend WordPress plugins based on project requirements
• Develop frontend interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern web practices
• Work with PHP and WordPress APIs to create custom functionality
• Implement responsive designs across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
• Troubleshoot website issues, plugin conflicts, and performance problems
• Improve website speed, security, accessibility, and overall user experience
• Manage custom post types, fields, taxonomies, and content structures
• Integrate third-party services, APIs, forms, analytics, and business tools
• Support website migrations, updates, deployments, and maintenance tasks
• Follow development standards including Git, documentation, and code reviews
• Collaborate with designers, developers, project managers, and stakeholders

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional WordPress development experience
• Strong understanding of WordPress architecture, themes, plugins, and customization
• Hands-on experience with PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience building and modifying WordPress themes and templates
• Experience working with WordPress hooks, filters, and APIs
• Experience troubleshooting WordPress websites and resolving technical issues
• Understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
• Experience working with databases such as MySQL or similar relational databases
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and organized code
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills

• Experience with custom WordPress plugin development
• Experience with WooCommerce, memberships, subscriptions, or eCommerce websites
• Experience with Elementor, Gutenberg, Advanced Custom Fields, WPBakery, or similar tools
• Experience with headless WordPress and REST API integrations
• Experience with website performance optimization and Core Web Vitals
• Experience with SEO-friendly website development practices
• Experience with AWS, Docker, CI/CD, or modern deployment workflows
• Experience maintaining multiple client websites and production environments
